Assam Fish Soup, Chicken Rice…Yummy!

I am lucky I married a guy who doesn’t mind taking me “overseas” just for lunch. Before Bryan came along, we would drive all the way to Ipoh for a day trip just to eat at our favourite restaurants & coffee shops.

Last Sunday, I told him that I had cravings for the Assam Fish Chicken Rice at Prai. So we drove over to the other side of Penang to this Chicken Rice shop at Chai Leng park.

This place is usually packed, and it is usually worse during weekdays due to the office crowd.

What keeps us coming back again & again is off course the absolutely yummilicious assam fish soup. And we get unlimited servings of this soup. Just to give you an idea, how much we loved this soup - Hubb & I finished 2 bowls each!

The shop does serves a variety of great dishes besides the compulsory chicken. There’s lor bak, kiam bak, fried fish, assam fish, fried tofu, stewed chicken feet, stewed egg, stewed pork, chai boey, etc.

Since this is supposed to be Bryan’s lunch as well, we ordered child friendly dishes, ie no spicy dishes.

But this baby decides that lunch time is nap time.

He actually fell asleep as we were crossing the Penang Bridge. He continued napping when we took him out from his car seat. So I have to eat my lunch with him in my arms. When hubb finishes his portion, he took turn to carry Bryan. And this boy continued to sleep.

When we are almost done, Bryan decided to wake up and enjoy his lunch. We had saved some dishes for him and we ordered another bowl of rice for him.

He enjoyed his lunch while hubb and I enjoy more assam soup…Sorry, no photos here coz all of us are obviously too busy enjoying our food.
