It is again another day of yummy food! My colleagues and I took a trip to town to savor the famous Penang Road Loh Bak…The one that had appeared in some newspaper.

See the man at the far back with the chef’s hat. That’s the man selling loh-bak.
We arrived there at about 12 and already the coffee shop is packed. We actually even meet some colleagues from another dept there and I met another fren from a neighbor company just outside the shop. Guess we are not the only “tam-chiak” gang.

What did we order for loh-bak….one of everything that they have at that moment. There’s loh-bak (of course), prawn fritters, taukua, fresh sotong (with roe sommo), fresh fish fillets, …err cannot remember anything else. These are traditional loh bak offerings. No fancy stuff like Taiwan sausages and fishballs.
I think the secret to the great tasting loh-bak is the gravy. Which is thick and flavorful. And having just loh-bak for lunch is not enough. So we ordered some pei-tan chok (century egg porridge). The porridge seems very popular at the coffee shop but in comparison to the loh-bak…is a bit plain. Heck, I can whip up great and better pei-tan chok anytime. So maybe I am biased.

Oooh…tat’s not all I had today. What about desserts?

Fresh home made creamy cream puff. Freshly delivered to our office for tea-time…One of my colleagues from my old dept ordered 2 boxes for me. It pays to keep in touch with friends…kekekee.
Now excuse me, I have cream puffs to enjoy for now….
