I just went for my 32 weeks ante natal checkup last night. Baby is healthy and growing well. His head, just like Bryan last time is slightly above average in size but everything else is normal and average size. At this rate that he is growing, I will probably have an average size baby that weighs less than 3kg at birth…just like Bryan again.
My worry now is that the bb Jie has not yet turn downwards at this stage. I asked him, what if bb don’t turn … C- Sec lo! Cham liao lo…I don’t want C-sec leh. My fren went through C-Sec and because she wanted to exclusively breastfeed her baby, she cannot take any pain killer. So the first few days is darn painful leh, and of course the recovery process is longer.
But my Dr say that I have another 4 weeks to work on it, and I have to walk MORE. Don’t sit around so much so that I can let gravity do its work.
If by week 36 my baby has not turn, there is a higher possibility of a breech baby at birth. Of course, we can attempt a manual intervention via external cephalic at 36 or 37 weeks of pregnancy but that is dependent on a few criterias – fetal positioning and the condition of the womb.
Anyway, I checked the web, and these are the few causes for breech positioning
- preterm labor and birth - if labor starts when the baby is still small enough to move rather freely in the uterus.
- a placenta in the fundus - the placenta takes up some of the space in the top of the uterus.
- an unusual shape of the mother’s uterus, or fibroids in the lower part of the uterus.
- more than one fetus (such as twins)
- a very relaxed uterus from many previous children
- too much or too little amniotic fluid

I have none of the above conditions. I had only 1 child previously and I think that don’t count for “too many previous children.”
And since I have 4 more weeks to get baby to move down, here’s the recommendation of the things I can do:-
Exercise
- walking every day for 20 minutes
- swimming especially breast stroke
Body Positions
- kneel on the floor with your bottom up and head down
- sleep with several pillows under your bottom and lower back to allow gravity to turn the baby
- place a wooden board at a 45degree angle with one end on the floor and other end on a chair. The board should be wide enough to support you securely, lay on it with your head at the floor end.
Using Music
- Headphones placed on the lower part of your abdomen, playing either music or your voice, has encouraged babies to move towards the sounds and out of the breech position

So looks like I have got to get more active the next few week….
