Simple steps to promote optimum fetal position

Since I found out that bb Jie has not turned downwards, I have been a little paranoid and have been surfing the web for more information on how to correct the situation.

It seems that nowadays there are more incidences of baby turning down later or even not turning (breech). And this is largely attributed to our comfy lifestyle – reclining comfy couches at home, car seats and office chairs. There is also less physical work / exercise. And another problem that i just found out – I have been playing sounds to bb Jie from the top of my abdomen. So I am switching the position to my lower abdomen, ie near my pelvic bone.

I also found a good website with illustrations of some simple exercise that you can do or postures that you can maintain to help promote a good fetal position for an easy labor.

If you are preggie now, there’s no harm to check out Birth Angels website.

And for the last few days, besides playing sounds & music to bb Jie near my pelvic bone, I am walking as much as possible and trying to sit up straight while at work or watching TV. I am going to add Pelvic Rocking and Pelvic Tilt to my daily exercise also.

Maybe I am a bit too optimistic, but I think I feel the baby moving down… I certainly hope so.

The only sad part, we just bought 2 comfortable recliner sofas for our new house. Looks like I won’t get to enjoy it until after bb Jie is born.

  1. Hi, I was told that my daughter was not turned down when I was 32 weeks pregnant. I did the pelvic tilt and pelvic rock as advised by my gynae but it did not help. I have been walking for about 10 minutes from the carpark to the office everyday way before my pregnancy which did not help either. I only found out about moxibustion when I was about 36 weeks when another mother in the gynae clinic told me about it because it worked for her as it was advised by her friend who is a chinese medical practitioner. I went to do research on the internet and found out how to do it. In fact I could feel baby kicked and tried to move when I did it. Unfortunately I started it late and my baby was too big to turn by then and I ended up with C-sect. You can refer to http://www.birthinternational.com/articles/andrea13.html for more information.

  2. I went through the same worry when I was pregnant with Lucas too…give it time. I did some yoga positions to help this as well. I’ll see if I can find them online for you ok? Take care :-)

  4. Hi…just thot you might want to check with your ObGyn first before doing anything. I mean, if you’ve been swimming all this time, then it shud be ok. It’s best not to start any ‘new’ thing at this stage of your pregnancy.

Most babies have a lot of room to turn until the 36th week….so maybe you shud just relax first…and when it gets nearer to term, perhaps your OBGYN can help u turn the bb around.

Dun worry too much la…the best is the chk with your Dr.

  5. Haih.. wanted to leave a comment on your earlier post when u mentioned that baby Jie had not turned. Goodness knows why I didn’t. Old age.. Anyway.. have faith. I know of a friend whose baby turned very late in the pregnancy. She was all prepared for breech birth, but she decided to turn last minute! Good luck!
