I heard exactly what I wanted yesterday night at my Ob/ Gyn’s office. Bb Jie has turned head down and is in an occiput anterior position now – the ideal position for delivery.
Now what I need to do is to make sure that bb continue to stay in that position as he continue to descend and engage. His head is not fully engaged and I asked my Ob/Gyn what are the chances of the bb turning up again. He told me that the chances are only 4% as there is now limited room for the bb to maneuver himself out of the current position. But the baby can still turn from side to side. I just need to make sure that the baby lie on the correct side so that labor will be smoother.
With Bryan, my labor was relatively easy. I only felt intense pain in the last 1.5 hours before delivery, and it took me only 3 push or so to get Bryan out. I am hoping that this one will be similar or even easier as people say that the 2nd labor is usually easier than the 1st one. However, I am aware that anything can happen at the last moment and so, I am hoping and praying for the best.
According to my Ob/Gyn, my main responsibility right now is to walk, walk and walk more. More walking will help in the labor process later
But I according to the website above, there am also simple things that I can do and am going to do to encourage optimal fetal positioning at labor.
- Use the tailor pose yoga position while resting, reading or watching TV (sitting with your back upright and soles of the feet together, knees out to the sides
- No crossing of legs! This reduces the space at the front of the pelvis, and opens it up at the back. For good positioning, the baby needs to have lots of space at the front
- Don’t put my feet up! Lying back with feet up encourages posterior presentation.
- Sleep on my side, not on back. I start to do this since beginning of 2nd trimester.
There are more tips on the website, but I won’t be able to do them all. But if you are expecting a child soon too, go check it out.
